Hyaluronic Acid Serum. First, I wanted to clarify, that Hyaluronic Acid is not an exfoliating acid or causing skin to peel, or anything like that. I say that, because many of my clients asked me why I recommend acid serum while their skin is dry or irritated. Well, the main Hyaluronic Acid benefit for the skin is deep hydration. Hyaluronic acid is a natural polysaccharide ( sugar molecule) that occurs in skin, joints and connective tissues. Responsible for tissue hydration, lubrication, & tissue stability, holds 500 times its own weight of water.
However, our bodies slow down the production as we age, so we need to supplement it topically, so we can enjoy “Baby skin”
Skin feels moist, firm and soft. And yes, deeply hydrated skin looks instantly younger, wrinkles are less visible and it promotes skin cell rejuvenation.
Benefits accumulate, the longer you use the better it gets!
Hyaluronic Acid molecular weight is very important while choosing the right product. Between 8000 to 15000 daltons is the best, any heavier would not be able to penetrate the skin layers, and it would be just coating the skin. Serums need to be light weight, they need to be able to soak deep into skin layers. Simply said, higher molecular weight is less effective. Having higher molecular weight prevents skin to absorb and therefore not as effective. Molecular weight is what makes them different from creams and other skin care products.
Another criteria would be, what preserving system is used for the product. Organic preservative made from radishes, Lucidal is our preference. It adds moisturization benefit and it’s totally natural, as it is derived from food.
Lastly, the percentage of Hyaluronic Acid in the serum. The maximum most effective, deeply penetrating is 3%. Any higher percentage is too thick and it is not as absorbable. We found that these guide lines are the most important while choosing right Hyaluronic Acid Serum.
